Accomplishments

In the Fall of 2000, administrators from Manitowoc- and Sheboygan-based health care facilities met with Lakeshore Technical College administrators to define how current and future employment needs will be met. This first meeting of the Health Care Alliance launched a continuum of efforts by a dedicated coalition of health care, human resource, and education leaders who meet monthly. Since 2000, the LSHCA has realized many accomplishments including:

  • Continued support of high school counselors as they counsel students
  • Development of a best practice Job Shadowing program
  • Community presentations conveying the need for health care employees
  • Advocacy for new or expanded health care workforce:

    • Practical Nurse program
    • Nursing Assistants
    • Medical Coders
    • Clinical Lab Technicians
    • Health Unit Coordinators
    • Phlebotomists
    • Surgical Technologists
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs
    • Health Care Technician (Multiple-skilled Health Employee)
    • Bachelor and Master's Health Care Management
    • Bachelor and Master's Health Care Administration
  • Partnership with the Northeastern Wisconsin Area Health Education Center in delivering a summer Health Careers Camp for high school students
  • Addressing the needs of special populations
